What is a Japanese auction sheet?
Before a car is sold at a Japanese auction, an inspector examines it and records the result on a single document — the auction sheet, often called the true report. It carries the overall grade, interior grade, mileage on auction day, a map of scratches, dents and repairs, plus the auction house, lot number, date and final price. It is the most reliable record of a used Japanese car's condition.
How does auction sheet verification work?

Can I verify a USS auction sheet online?
Yes. USS is Japan's largest auction group, and USS auction sheet verification works exactly the same way — search by chassis number. We also cover TAA, JU, HAA, Arai, Aucnet and other major auction houses, over 100 in total.
How do I read an auction sheet?
Start with the large overall grade (6 down to 1, or R for a repaired car), then the interior grade from A to D. On the car map, A marks a scratch, U a dent, W a repaired panel and XX a replaced one. Our full guide to reading an auction sheet explains every code.
Where do I find the chassis number?
It is printed on the vehicle registration certificate (BRTA papers), the export certificate, and on a metal plate or stamping in the engine bay. Japanese chassis numbers look like NZT260-3196467 — a model code, a dash, then digits.
What if no record is found?
You are never charged for a search. If a chassis has no auction record it may have been sold privately in Japan, via a dealer auction we don't cover, or the number was entered incorrectly.
How is the report delivered?
Immediately after payment you are taken to your report page. The same report is sent to the email you provide, with a permanent link you can reopen or share with a mechanic or bank.
